For the 2008 season I have expanded the hike calendar to include more foraging hikes (Stalking the Wild Greens). For a description of this hike as well as all the other ones I offer please read on. The day hikes found on this page vary in length, however none are overnight trips. If you are interested in hiking for an extended amount of time, please visit the “Extended Trips” page. Stalking the Wild Greens (XXXXXXXX)$ 35.00 *Special trip price

Learn about wild edibles and their heath benefits while hiking in a beautiful setting. Why are we constantly bombarded with $expensive$ vitamin and supplement prescriptions when the most delicious, most nutritious food is growing around us for FREE! During the course of this excursion we will learn how to find and identify the most common, readily available wild greens and eat them! Not only will we get in to the science of why eating WILD is beneficial for our health but we will also expand upon how to properly eat what we find and more importantly enjoy what we eat! As a bonus for this trip we will be making a fresh, nutrient rich, green smoothie right on the trail!

Avenue of the Giant Boulders (XXXXXXXX)$ 40.00

Avenue of the Giant Boulders is a series of large, moss-covered rocks that are dispersed sporadically among a cozy stretch of the Rogue River. The placement of these large rocks among the water has formed numerous swimming holes and cascading waterways giving the area a mystical feel. In this excursion we will be pampering ourselves and taking a break from the stresses of the modern world. Bathing suits + fresh summer fruit + light hiking make up the bulk of this appetizing river trip! As a special bonus, we will also visit nearby Mill Creek Falls (170’ Tall) as well as Barr Creek Falls (200’ tall).

Ashland Waterworks (XXXXXXXX)$ 25.00

Take a break from the hustle and bustle and treat yourself to a relaxing venture through Ashland's natural waterworks! Hike to beautiful 30-foot waterfalls, tour around pristine mountain lakes, swim in brisk watering holes, and slide down natural moss covered water slides. Experience Ashland’s best-kept secrets not found on the Map!

Note: This hike is perfect for those wanting to escape the summer heat or those on a schedule.

Rogue-Umpqua Divide Wilderness(XXXXXXXX)$ 35.00

Hike along secluded sections of the beautiful Rogue River following the Upper Rogue River Trail. Many visitors are attracted to this hike because it offers a quick escape into nature without a lot of effort. Don't be fooled however, without effort does not mean less beautiful, this wilderness area offers some of the most exquisite views forest setting in Oregon. Between the beautiful swimming holes, adventurous wildlife, and lush surrounds, there is something for everyone on this hike.

Note: Side trips to Crater Lake, Rogue River Gorge, Avenue of the Giant Boulders, and mountain lakes can be arranged from this hike!

Pacific Crest Trail (XXXXXXXXtoXXXXXXXX)$ 35.00

The Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) is a 2,650-mile national scenic trail that runs from Mexico to Canada through California, Oregon and Washington. The PCT’s unprecedented beauty attracts thousands of nature enthusiasts every year. The wild, unaltered landscape attracts tourists from many countries of the worldwide. A testament to sheer exquisiteness of the PCT is the fact that many of the people who chose to through-hike the PCT have to quit their jobs and sell their houses in order to make their dreams a reality. The Southern Oregon section of the Pacific Crest Trail has something to entice every hiker no mater the skill level. Choose from leisurely hikes through wild huckleberry patches and wooded pine forests or challenging hill climbs of extensive proportions.

Note: The PCT is diverse and therefore a good choice for finding and harvesting wild edibles!

Sky Lakes Wilderness (XXXXXXXX) Mileage varies $ 40.00

The Sky Lakes Wilderness Area offers visitors a chance to experience the Oregon high-country like never before. With its unforgettable mountain views, crystal clear lakes, and icy cold springs, it is no wonder why the Sky Lake Wilderness has become a popular hiker destination. Officially added to the National Wilderness Preserve in June of 1984, the Sky Lakes Wilderness serves as an important habitat for wildflowers as well as elk. When hiking along the friendly single-track trail in this wilderness area, you are almost guaranteed colorful view, decadent aromas, and encounters with wildlife.

Note: This is a great setting for learning about wild edibles!

Hike distance: from 5 to 10 miles depending on the trail

Grizzly Peak (XXXXXXXX) $ 30.00

Get a better view of the Rogue Valley by ascending to the top of Grizzly Peak. Walk through Douglas fir forests, mountain meadows, and wild ginger patches. Enjoy 360-degree panoramic views of Ashland, the Cascade Range, Mt. McLoughlin, and Mt. Shasta atop a 5,922-foot peak. In late spring and early summer wildflowers put on a spectacular show along the trail. Keep an eye out for elk and deer, as well as many other animals including Golden Eagles and other birds of prey. Being so close to town, this is a great venture for those without a whole lot of time!

Note: this is a great hike for learning about history, wildflowers, and wild edibles!

Pilot Rock Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument(XXXXXXXX) $ 35.00

The Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument is best characterized by its outstanding biological diversity. A tremendous variety of plants and animals make homes amidst the towering forests, sunlit groves, wildflower-strewn meadows, and steep canyons. The Monument is also a bird haven, with more than 200 species identified, including the Northern Spotted Owl, the Great Gray Owl, and the Peregrine Falcon. Feel your adrenaline Pump as you ascended up a steep rock face to the top of Pilot Rock. Once at the summit, you will experience not only a natural high from the vigorous climb, but also incredible panoramic views of Mt Shasta, Mt McLaughlin, the Cascades, and the Rogue Valley.

Disclaimer: This hike is intended for experienced hikers only! While the climbing done on this hike does not require the presence of climbing equipment, there are several small vertical climbs that require agility and muscle strength.

Wagner Butte (XXXXXXXX) $ 50.00

This hike will kick your butt… And leave you wanting more! Wagner butte is the second tallest peak in the Siskiyou’s (second only to Mt. Ashland). At 7,140 above sea level, Wagner Butte offers spectacular views that must be earned! Start out by trekking through wooded forests and watch the veil slowly lift as you ascend into mountain meadows. Hike through boundless fields of wild plants munching on Miner’s lettuce for energy. As you near the top of Wagner Butte feel the anticipations of the epic views that lie ahead tickle your belly. Finally, inhale the crisp mountain top air as you summit one of Southern Oregon’s finest peaks!

Mt. McLaughlin(XXXXXXXX) $ 50.00

Avid Hikers: put your endurance to the test by climbing Oregon's finest! Challenge yourself by climbing Mt. McLaughlin's 9,495-foot tall peak. Grunt you way up the 5.5-mile trail to the top. Over the course of those 5.5 miles, you will ascend nearly 4,000 vertical feet. If this sounds like fun to you, then without a doubt this hike is for you!

Mt. Thielsen(XXXXXXXX) $ 50.00

Mt. Thielsen is located north of Crater Lake National Park. Elevations within the area range from 4,300 feet to 9,182 feet. At 9,182 feet above sea level Mt Thielsen offers a natural high only attainable from the top. This is a popular destination for mountain climbers from all over the United States. The top of Mt. Thielsen resembles something out of the Lord of the Rings, as its jagged spires pierce the air around it. he grandiose rock formations sticking out above the tree line capture one’s attention illustrating the unlimited power of nature!

Note: Apart from a steep ascend at the top of Mt. Thielsen, there is no rock climbing involved in this trip!

Slackline Adventure(XXXXXXXX) Fun for the whole family $20.00 per hour

Slack line walking, or slack lining, is a sport of balance concentration and relaxation. It is most commonly explained as a form of tight rope walking. However, unlike tight rope walking, a slack line has “bounce” in it. This makes balancing on a slack like a bit easier and way more fun! When properly installed, a slack line essentially turns into a one inch wide trampoline that hangs two feet above the ground and provides hours of fun.
